Data Sharing

StateShark does not sell or share your data; that is not our business. We offer a service to notify you when certain status pages change. Therefore, we ask for your email address when you sign up to receive these notifications. Our legal basis for collecting this information, and all the data we request from you, is to provide our status page change notification service.

We also ask for your name and company name, but this is optional. We only use this to personalize our communications with you. If you sign up for a paid plan, we will ask for your payment information, which we do not store locally, but only pass on to our payment provider (Stripe, Paypal, etc.). We can see the last digits of your card and its type, as well as your payment history, but otherwise we do not have access to that data. Optionally, you can also provide us with your mailing address, but it will only be used to display it on your invoice, as required by some jurisdictions. When you subscribe to StateShark services, we store which ones you have chosen and which components of those services you wish to receive notifications about. All of this is for the sole purpose of providing you with our service: timely and relevant notifications about changes to the status page.

As stated, we aren't in the business of sharing or selling your data. Like most modern companies, we use a handful of outsourced vendors to power portions of our product. Under the GDPR, these are called processors and here's a list of who we use:

Legal Requests

We won't work with law enforcement nor give them any data about you, unless they were to furnish us with a valid court order. We'll notify you in this case, except if we are not permitted to by law.

Encryption and Security

We use modern encryption techniques like TLS for our website and email. We go to great lengths to ensure the security of our website and infrastructure and pay close attention to our dependency drift in order to stay on top of security updates.

Data Location

As we are a company based in Spain, we store your data on servers located in the European Union. This means that if you reside in another jurisdiction, you give us your consent to transfer your data here.

Cookies

Our site uses cookies, as do most websites. We use cookies to recognize you when you return to our site, so you don't have to log in each time. We do not use your cookies for any other purpose. You can set your browser to not accept our cookies, but StateShark may not function properly as a result.

Your Rights

If you reside in the EU, you have rights granted by the GDPR as a data subject. These rights are:

The right to be informed: We inform you about what we collect and how we use it by displaying this privacy policy and disclosing when we collect data.
The right of access: You can request a copy of the data we have collected about you by sending us an email at info@stateshark.com.
The right to rectification: If you believe that the data we store about you is incorrect, you can edit your profile by logging into your account. Alternatively, you can email us at info@stateshark.com.
The right to erasure: If you would like us to delete all personal data we hold about you, simply email us at info@stateshark.com and we will close your account and permanently destroy all associated data.
The right to restrict processing: If you would like us to restrict the use of your data for specific purposes, you can request this by emailing us at info@stateshark.com.
The right to data portability: We can provide you with a machine-readable version of all the data we hold about you if you email us at info@stateshark.com.
The right to object: You have the right to object to the processing of your data and can do so by sending an email to info@stateshark.com.
Rights in relation to automated decision-making and profiling: We do not profile or make decisions in an automated manner, so this right does not apply to StateShark.

Changes to this Policy

We may change this policy from time to time. When we do so significantly, we will notify you by emailing the account owner.
